The NDIS, or National Disability Insurance Scheme, is an initiative developed by the Australian Government. Its primary goal is to provide funding to eligible individuals with disabilities, enabling them to attain greater independence, acquire new skills, explore job opportunities, volunteer, spend quality time with friends and family, and ultimately enhance their overall quality of life. The NDIS offers personalised Care Plans tailored to your unique goals, aspirations, and support requirements. Each plan typically spans 1-3 years and adapts to your evolving needs and life circumstances.

Absolutely! Every participant has the freedom to select alternative service providers. Information concerning the process of changing or transitioning providers can usually be found in your service agreement or within the policies and procedures of the organisation. As a relatively new organisation based in Adelaide, we currently provide only the services listed on our services page, which include:

Community Participation
Assistance with Daily Living
Short Term Accommodation (Including Respite)
House and Yard Maintenance
Transportation

However, we are experiencing rapid growth and have plans to expand into other areas of NDIS support services in the near future.

Under an NDIS plan, funding is allocated into three categories, and all services and supports fall under these categories:

• Core: Core Supports assist with daily living activities, address your current disability-related needs, and help you work towards your goals. Your Core Supports budget is highly flexible, and in most cases, you can utilise your funding across any of the four sub-support categories.
• Capacity Building: Capacity Building Supports focus on enhancing your independence and skills. This category encompasses therapy support, transportation, and in-home support. Unlike your Core Supports budget, your Capacity Building Supports budget cannot be reallocated from one support category to another.
• Capital: Capital Supports include higher-cost assistive technology, equipment, and home or vehicle modifications. This category may also cover funding for one-time purchases you may require, including Specialist Disability Accommodation.

Currently, Abilities Amplified offers support that falls under the Core category.

To apply for NDIS funding, you will need to contact the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and complete an access request form. More information is available on the NDIS website.
